TN Workers Demand Resignation of Palanichami Government

A colourful workers rally in Chennai on January 31 expressed its solidarity to the Free Pricol Two campaign, demanded withdrawal of the steep bus fare hike and an end to the TN Government’s attempt to weaken the public distribution system.

The rally came down heavily on the pro-corporate communal casteist Modi regime and it demanded resignation of anti-people dictatorial Palanichami government which has sold out the interests of the Tamil Nadu people on language, water rights, culture, food security and rights of the state.

The number one contingent in the rally were the loading and unloading workers of Tamilnadu civil supplies corporation who came from Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Namakkal, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Teni, Dharmapuri, Salem, Dindigul and other districts. The second leading contingent of a few hundred workers were from Sanmina SCI, a US MNC, where they successfully soncluded a strike from 21.11.2017 to 25.01.2018 including an indefinite hunger strike from 22.01.2018 to 25.02.2018. Workers also came from Co-optex, Tamilnadu Electricity Board, Water Supply Board, conservancy workers of Chennai corporation, an insurance company, Pricol, LGB Rollon, Hyundai, Tenneco, Asian Paints, Diamond Engineerring, KKR (a subsidiary of Delphi TVS), Tristar, Murugappa group, OLG, BHEL, Best and Crompton, Dunlop, Formix, Crane Global, Popular Carbonic, Hospitals, Gymkhana club, Madras Club, Soundarya Decorators, Saimirra, Jay Engineering, Jumbo Bag, Onion basket makers, Beedi, construction, powerloom, surface transport (container lorry), Zoological Park, from living areas and from other sections and sectors.

Rural workers from Tiruvallore, Cuddalore and Nagai complemented to the variety of the rally. Com.Balasundaram, State President AIARLA inaugurated the rally. RYA played a significant role in the rally and a substantial section of the rally was below 40.
