Comrade Umesh Yadav

Umesh

COMRADE Umesh Yadav of Barsoi (Katihar, Bihar) passed away untimely at the young age of 35, following two severe and consecutive heart attacks.

Comrade Umesh had been the very able and active local representative of the CPI(ML) MLA Mahboob Alam.
He joined the party in 2011. From a peasant family, his family home was near Barsoi railway station. He ran a small shop selling mobile phones - and Comrade Mahboob Alam would meet him on his visits to the shop. The party was impressed by his strong feelings for the rights and dignity of poor people, and the fact he had earned the wrath of feudal forces who filed a false case against him. Even as the party was planning to invite him to join, he himself reached out to Comrade Mahboob and expressed a wish to join the party.

On joining the party, he was given the responsibility of the area near the Barsoi railway station where the party already had a following amongst small vendors, auto drivers and so on. He was very well liked by all sections of people, and was especially effective in forging unity among Hindus and Muslims and resisting communalism.  His untimely death is a huge blow to the party.

Red Salute to Comrade Umesh!
