Withdraw Deocha Pachami Coal Project

Deocha Pachami coal block, situated at Mohammadbazar block in Birbhum district of West Bengal has been reported as the largest coal mine in Asia and second largest in the world. It has been allocated to West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL) in 2018 by Ministry of Coal, Government of India. Recently, the state government has begun the process of initiating the open cast coal mining 'industry'.

Baghjan Fire: A Case of Systematic Plunder of Natural Resources and Human Rights

On 10 June a team of eight activists and students led by CPIML Central Committee member, Balindra Saikia visited Baghjan, the site of the oil blowout on 27 May 2020, followed by a fire in the same oil well on 9 June 2020. The team along with Balindra Saikia comprised Bitupon Bakolial, Secretary of Dibrugarh District committee of CPIML; Lopamudra Tamuli, Suraj Mahali and Vishal Kaul, comrades of AISA; Noihrit Gogoi, Urnisha Swargari and, a student of Tezpur Medical college, Anisha Gogoi.

Boiler Blast Kills Mid-day Meal Workers in Bihar

A CPIML fact-finding team visited Sugauli in Eastern Champaran on 17 November 2019 to enquire into the recent horrific boiler blast which killed several people. The team enquired into the various aspects of the incident and found the State government, District administration, Education Department and an NGO responsible for the murderous incident. The decision to hand over mid-day meal preparation in government schools to NGOs results in negligence as well as outright danger.

Save Kalyanalova Reservoir

Report of Fact Finding Team on Undeclared Emergency-Like Situation in Tripura

A fact-finding team comprised Medha Patkar (leader of the National Alliance of People’s Movements - NAPM), Rajaram Singh, ex-MLA from CPIM and General Secretary of the All India Kisan Mahasabha (AIKM), Dr Ashok Dhawale (President of the All India Kisan Sabha – AIKS), KK Ragesh, MP (Joint Secretary of the AIKS), all the three MPs from Tripura - Jitendra Chaudhury, Shankar Prasad Datta and Jharna Das Baidya - and ex-MP Narayan Kar visited Tripura from August 3-5, 2018 to study the situation there after the BJP-IPFT government came to power in March 2018.
