No to the US War on Iran: CPIML Condemns the Murder of General Qassem Soleimani

CPIML condemns the murder of General Qassem Soleimani for which US President Trump has claimed personal responsibility. This unprovoked killing of a very prominent figure in the Iranian military and state, along with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy commander of the Popular Mobilisation Forces (an umbrella group of Iran-backed militias) and at least six other people has clearly been carried out in order to escalate an imperialist war on Iran.

No Custodial Murder In Our Name: AIPWA Statement on Hyderabad Fake Encounter

THE four suspects in the Hyderabad rape and murder case have been killed by the police in an early morning “encounter”. This “encounter” has all the hallmarks of a custodial murder, dressed up to look like an “encounter”. Since the suspects were in police custody, and thus unarmed, it is clear that the police is lying when it claims they were killed when “attacking the police” at the crime scene where they had been taken to “recreate” the events of the night the rape-murder occurred.

Response to 'In Solidarity With Miyah Poets'

(In the August issue of Liberation we had carried a statement issued by more than 200 writers, academics and researchers, many of them of Assamese origin, against the ongoing persecution of a group of poets of Assam whose poems have come to be identified as Miyah poetry. The statement was pre-ceded by some introductory remarks and followed by a few poems of this genre. We have received a response to this feature from Comrades Bibek Das and Balindra Saikia.
